Waikato Hockey Board of Directors Are you a strategic leader with a passion for sports management? Waikato Hockey is seeking an experienced and driven General Manager (GM) to lead our organisation's growth and inspire our team. As GM, you'll champion our strategic vision, manage operations, and ensure Waikato Hockey remains a top-tier organisation. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership
Drive the development and implementation of Waikato Hockey's strategic plan, in line with our vision and objectives. Work closely with the Board of Directors to achieve organisational goals and sustainable growth. Collaborate with the Waikato Hockey Charitable Trust to support the ongoing operation and growth of the facilities. Operational Management
Oversee daily operations, leading staff and volunteers to achieve organisational goals. Establish robust communication and transparent working relationships with the Waikato Hockey Charitable Trust, the Waikato Hockey Association, and the Board to ensure effective facility and venue management. Ensure compliance with health, safety, child protection, and other regulatory requirements. Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to ensure financial sustainability. Oversee cash flow management, funding applications, and risk assessment in collaboration with the Board. Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making and mitigate risks. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key funders and corporate sponsors to secure financial support and strategic partnerships. Strengthen existing sponsor relationships, ensuring ongoing engagement and value. Lead marketing initiatives to enhance Waikato Hockey's profile and attract new participants, spectators, and investors. Governance & Reporting
Present regular performance, financial, and strategic updates to the Board of Directors. Ensure governance practices are transparent and aligned with the organisation's goals. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
Act as a representative of Waikato Hockey at community and national events. Build relationships with Hockey New Zealand, regional hockey associations, and other sports organisations. Develop communication strategies for consistent messaging across all channels. Skills & Qualifications
Proven senior management experience in sports management, not-for-profit, or a similar environment. Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. Demonstrated leadership abilities with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Strategic thinker with experience in commercial development, sponsorship, and fundraising. Understanding of governance, compliance, and risk management. Passion for hockey or a keen interest in sports and community development is advantageous. Personal Attributes
Organised and detail-oriented. Proactive, results-driven, and independent. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
