Transmission Model Support Engineer

We are seeking a skilled contractor to join our team as a Technical Specialist in supporting Transmission Management System (TMS) model maintenance. This role requires expertise in electrical modeling and network analysis, working on OSI EMS systems, and decommissioning NOMCRs to ensure model accuracy. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, experience with electrical model building and analysis, and the ability to collaborate with internal and external teams with minimal supervision following initial training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Analysis Modeling: Conduct network analysis on OSI EMS systems to support accurate transmission models. Electrical Modeling: Develop, analyze, and maintain electrical models for TMS, including ensuring model consistency and accuracy.
- TMS Database Modeling: Provide support for TMS database modeling and one-line display updates.
- NOMCR Submissions: Submit decommissioning NOMCRs (Network Operations Model Change Requests) to ERCOT to maintain model integrity and reflect current operational states.
- Engineering Drawings
- Interpret and understand engineering one-line diagrams and drawings related to electrical transmission and ensure accurate model representation.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Attention to Detail
- Strong focus on accuracy and thoroughness in all tasks, especially in model maintenance and data entry.
- Engineering Knowledge: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifically one-line electrical transmission diagrams.
- Familiarity with ERCOT's MAGE: Knowledge of ERCOT's MAGE (Model Administration and Governance Environment) is a plus.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Demonstrated experience in electrical modeling and network analysis.
- Familiarity with TMS database modeling and support, with a focus on maintaining accurate one-line displays.
- Knowledge of ERCOT’s NOMCR process and commitment to maintaining model accuracy through timely submissions.
