DescriptionTHIS POSITION IS: PART-TIME (24 - 29 hours per week)The Clinical Nurse - Emergency provides health care services in the Emergency Room through delivery of professional nursing care appropriate to patients' age and condition in an emergency care setting in consideration of the diverse physical, emotional, spiritual and socio-economic needs and beliefs of families and the community.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (include, but not limited to the following)Completes nursing assessment of assigned patient's condition consistent with age and condition including physical, psychological, social, developmental and educational needsPrioritizes care needs to presenting complaint, follows HP/DP guidelines and standards for specific groups, such asdiabetes, hypertensive and other chronic groups.Determines initial level of compliance with treatment plan in accordance with hospital policy and unit guidelinesPerforms nursing crisis intervention, stabilization, triage and emergency procedures to patients in varying health and physical statesPerforms patient/family assessment and identifies variances from diagnosisMaintains and updates patient's medical records through concise, accurate and timely documentationWorks collaboratively with patient care team and family members to establish and implement plan of care to ensure coordination of activities and ongoing communication of patient health statusAssesses and evaluates patient's health status and response to care, teaching and discharge planShares observations and assessment outcomes with health care team and family to ensure communication and understanding of patient health status, progress and ongoing needsAs primary nursing care provider, supervises patient care activities of assigned team members, delegates activities appropriate to knowledge, skill and competency; provides timely feedback and review of care delivery to ensure maintenance of patient safety, infection control procedures and therapeutic environmentMaintains professional and technical competency through regular participation in a variety of educational programs and in-services, reviews relevant professional publications and materialsDevelops and maintains good working and professional relationships with other health care team members and providers to facilitate open and cooperative communicationContributes to the team/unit's efforts by completing required activities within established parameters to ensure compliance with all applicable medication, storage and documentation standards, regulations and requirementsReviews and reinforces with patient/family ongoing education of basic technical procedures, activities and safety necessary for daily livingParticipates in departmental orientation, on the job training and quality assurance programs/initiativesParticipates in a variety of department and hospital educational programs to maintain current skills and competency levels; identifies and discusses performance or training needs with SupervisorOther duties as assignedRequirementsTwo years of clinical nursing experience in the Emergency Room, preferredAssociates degree in Nursing, BSN preferredCurrent and active state unrestricted RN license, Arizona state license preferredBLS, ACLS and PALS certification requiredIndian Preference and Equal Employment Opportunity SCAHC gives preference in hiring to San Carlos Apache Tribal members and other Native Americans in accordance with the San Carlos Apache Tribe's Tribal Preference Policy, as set forth in Section 402 of the Tribe's Human Resources Department Policies and Procedures Manual.
