We are seeking a proactive and strategic Business Relationship Manager (BRM) to serve as the primary liaison between IT and business units. The BRM will be responsible for understanding business needs, ensuring alignment of IT strategies with organizational goals, and driving value through effective collaboration. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of both technology and business processes, with excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with business unit leaders to understand their needs and objectives.Act as a trusted advisor, providing guidance on how IT capabilities can support and enhance business outcomes.Serve as the primary point of contact between business units and IT teams.
Alignment of IT and Business Goals
Partner with business leaders to identify and prioritize IT initiatives that align with strategic goals.Collaborate with IT teams to ensure solutions meet business requirements and deliver value.Facilitate discussions to ensure mutual understanding and alignment between IT and business objectives.
Demand and Portfolio Management
Capture and evaluate business requirements, ensuring they are well-documented and communicated.Prioritize and manage a portfolio of IT initiatives, balancing resources, risks, and benefits.Track the progress of IT projects and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
Value Realization
Ensure IT investments deliver measurable business value by defining success criteria and tracking outcomes.Identify opportunities for process improvements, innovation, and technology adoption.Facilitate post-implementation reviews to assess the impact and effectiveness of IT initiatives.
Communication and Change Management
Act as a bridge between IT and business units, translating technical concepts into business language.Support change management efforts to ensure smooth adoption of new technologies and processes.Deliver presentations and updates to leadership teams on IT performance and strategy.
Issue Resolution and Risk Management
Proactively identify and address challenges or conflicts between IT and business teams.Escalate and resolve issues in a timely and effective manner.Collaborate with risk management teams to address potential IT-related risks.
Continuous Improvement
Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in IT-business alignment.Facilitate workshops and sessions to identify areas for improvement in IT service delivery.Contribute to the development of frameworks and processes to enhance BRM effectiveness.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.5+ years of experience in IT, business analysis, or relationship management roles.Proven track record of managing relationships between business and IT teams.
Technical Skills
Familiarity with IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL, COBIT).Experience with demand management, portfolio management, or project management tools.Knowledge of business process modeling and analysis techniques.
Soft Skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build trust and credibility.Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain focus on strategic goals.
Preferred
Certification in BRM (e.g., Certified Business Relationship Manager, ITIL Foundation).Experience in Agile or hybrid project management methodologies.Familiarity with organizational change management practices.
