Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to join our team. The Data Architect will play a critical role in designing and implementing the data architecture and data management strategies in support of the US Navy's mission to transform their HR IT infrastructure. This role requires a deep understanding of data architecture principles, data management practices, and emerging technologies, as well as the ability to translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and reliable data solutions and strategies that support the Navy's HR strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with key stakeholders within the US Navy to understand and define data strategy, IT strategy, and data governance requirements and objectives.
Assess, design, and implement the data architecture and data management strategies to support the Navy's data initiatives, ensuring alignment with data governance principles and standards.
Develop data models and data integration strategies to ensure the integrity, security, and availability of Navy's data assets.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to IT teams involved in data strategy, IT strategy, and data governance initiatives, ensuring that data solutions support Navy's strategic objectives.
Collaborate with business stakeholders, data scientists, data engineers, and other IT teams to develop and implement data solutions that support Navy's business goals and objectives.
Conduct data architecture reviews and assessments to identify risks, gaps, and opportunities for optimization in the context of Navy's data requirements and objectives.
Collaborate with security, compliance, and other IT teams to ensure that data solutions meet Navy's security, compliance, and performance requirements in alignment with data governance principles.
Required Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
Proven experience as a Data Architect or similar role, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and implementing data architectures and data management solutions.
Strong expertise in data architecture principles, data modeling, data integration, and data governance.
Proficiency in data architecture modeling tools and frameworks.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical data solutions.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Experience leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Data Analytics).
Clearance Requirements
U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.

Compensation
The salary range for this position is $111,000 - $141,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
