A law firm seeks an experienced and self-motivated Insurance Defense Attorney to join its team remotely in Oakland, CA. This full-time position offers the opportunity to manage a diverse range of insurance defense matters, including bodily injury defense, construction defects, and employment law. The ideal candidate will have experience in litigation and will be comfortable managing cases from start to finish while working both independently and collaboratively with a team. This position provides flexibility, autonomy, and the chance to work on complex legal issues while maintaining a strong client-focused approach.DutiesManage and represent clients in various insurance defense matters, including bodily injury claims, construction defects, and employment-related litigationIndependently handle cases from inception through resolution, including drafting legal documents, taking depositions, and attending court hearingsDevelop legal strategies and provide clients with sound legal advice on complex mattersWork collaboratively with other attorneys on case development, while maintaining individual responsibility for assigned casesDraft and argue motions, including dispositive motions and motions in limineNegotiate settlements and manage the settlement process effectivelyCommunicate regularly with clients to provide updates, explain legal options, and ensure exceptional client serviceMaintain organized case files, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standardsStay updated on legal trends and changes in insurance defense lawRequirementsExperience in insurance defense, particularly in bodily injury, construction defects, or employment lawJuris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law schoolActive membership in the California State Bar, in good standingProven experience managing complex litigation cases from start to finishStrong research, writing, and oral advocacy skillsAbility to independently manage cases and prioritize responsibilitiesExcellent negotiation and settlement skillsStrong interpersonal and communication skills to maintain client relationshipsAbility to work effectively in a remote, flexible environmentEducationJuris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law schoolCertificationsActive California State Bar membership (additional state Bar licensure is a plus)SkillsExpertise in insurance defense litigation, with specific experience in bodily injury, construction defects, and employment lawStrong litigation skills, including depositions, court appearances, and settlement negotiationsExcellent legal research and writing abilitiesAbility to handle multiple cases and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentProficiency with legal case management tools and industry-standard technologyClient-focused with a high standard of professionalism and service
