As the Assistant Controller at Merit, you will be responsible for coordinating and maintaining all Accounting functions, including the financial month-end close process, accounts receivable including retailer compliance, lifecycle receivables management, and account reconciliations. Our ideal candidate is self-directed, proactive, and possesses resourcefulness to take on various accounting related initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in compliance with GAAP and company policiesOversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payrollMaintain an accurate General LedgerManage cash flow, including billing, AP/AR, and payment schedules to optimize working capitalAssist in activities related to cash managementManage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end closingsAssist in year-end audits and tax workpaper preparationManage internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with all required documentation and reportingSupport the CFO in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting activitiesMonitor and improve internal controls and procedures to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial dataManage, grow and develop one direct report (and determine resourcing at business demands)Lead special projects and process improvement initiatives to drive operational efficiency within the accounting departmentQualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required, CPA license required7+ years of accounting experience, with prior experience in a leadership role overseeing the majority, or all, of accounting operationsStrong understanding of accounting principles and GAAPStrong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insightsProficiency with NetSuite and knowledge of payments and T/E platforms (like Tipalti and NavanHigh proficiency in ExcelA high attention to detail and strong organizational skillsAn ability to be flexible and adaptable as business priorities shiftAn ability to communicate effectively with multiple levels within an organizationA high level of integrity, with a commitment to ethical and sound financial practicesAn ability to meet deadlines, with the ability to prioritize and manage projects effectivelyAn ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects in a very fast-paced start-up environment
MERIT is proud to offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits package in addition to salary compensation. The annual salary range for this role is $120,000 - 140,000 in addition to bonus potential, stock options, a 401(k) match, health benefits, paid time off and more.
