Our partner is seeking a
Senior Financial Analyst - Reinsurance
to join the finance team in Frederick, MD. This position is focused on financial reporting and analysis of reinsurance agreements under various accounting standards, including US statutory, IFRS, and Bermuda statutory accounting. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate and timely delivery of financial information and maintain compliance with internal and external requirements.ResponsibilitiesDraft and coordinate accounting memos and governance documents for reinsurance agreements.Prepare responses to internal and external audit inquiries related to reinsurance.Handle fiduciary due diligence requests for reinsurance objectives.Conduct quarterly analyses of IFRS results for Bermuda subsidiaries, including BMA filings and board/committee materials.Prepare and review statutory reinsurance schedules and reports.Analyze reinsurance reports and settlements, including asset rollforwards.Explain quarterly balance sheet and income statement movements related to reinsurance.Manage monthly/quarterly intercompany reconciliations and reinsurance tie-outs.Prepare journal entries and analyze Separate Account portfolio movements impacted by reinsurance.Maintain external reinsurer transfer of risk assessments and related documentation.Coordinate with tax teams to ensure accurate tax calculations.Draft and review financial statement disclosures for reinsurance.Maintain processes and controls to ensure the accuracy of reporting.Calculate compliance information required for reinsurance financiers.Lead documentation and process improvement initiatives.Support ad hoc projects and team objectives as needed.RequirementsEducationBachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required.CPA certification is preferred.Experience/Knowledge3–5 years of experience in a finance or accounting role.Strong knowledge of reinsurance structures and accounting treatments (e.g., coinsurance, funds withheld, excess of loss).Familiarity with US statutory accounting/RBC; knowledge of IFRS and Bermuda statutory accounting is a plus.Background in financial statement preparation or auditing preferred.Experience with individual life insurance, annuities, and pension risk transfer (PRT) is strongly preferred.SkillsExceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks accurately.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.Collaborative team player with a proactive approach to challenges.Proficiency in financial software applications relevant to the role.BenefitsCompetitive salary range: $88,300–$121,375 annually.Eligibility for an annual performance bonus (target 8% of base salary).Comprehensive benefits package, including health, life, and dental insurance.401(k) with company match up to 6% and a pension plan.Generous paid time off: 15 vacation days, 10 sick days, and 9 paid holidays annually.Opportunities for professional development and mentoring.Wellbeing initiatives and community volunteer opportunities.
