The role involves working on critical systems such as PCOS, CCQAS, DMHRSi, EAS IV, ESSENCE, and PHIMT, which are essential for managing healthcare claims, provider credentialing, human resources, cost allocation, disease surveillance, and health information management. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of IBM database technologies and experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing database solutions within a complex healthcare environment. This role is crucial in ensuring the performance, scalability, and reliability of critical MHS database systems.
Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
The IBM Database Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of IBM database systems supporting MHS applications. Key responsibilities include:Design and implement robust database architectures using IBM database technologies (e.g., Db2, Informix).Develop and optimize complex SQL queries and stored procedures for improved performance.Implement and maintain database security measures, including access controls and encryption.Design and implement data replication and high-availability solutions for critical systems.Collaborate with application developers to ensure efficient database integration and optimal query performance.Perform database tuning, index optimization, and query analysis to enhance system performance.Implement and manage backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and business continuity.Participate in capacity planning and resource allocation for database systems.Troubleshoot complex database issues and provide expert-level support.Stay current with IBM database technologies and best practices, recommending improvements as appropriate.Develop and maintain documentation for database designs, processes, and configurations.Mentor junior team members on IBM database technologies and best practices.Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field with 5-7 years of experience in IBM database engineering, orMaster's degree in a relevant field with 3-5 years of experience in IBM database engineering, orPhD in a relevant field with 1-3 years of experience in IBM database engineeringRequired Skills and Competencies:
