WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Satellite Network Engineer's duties include the design, documentation, implementation, maintenance, and support of our VSAT customer base. The right candidate is an independent problem solver with a strong, positive attitude. The ability to learn and implement new technologies is paramount. They will be a leader, not only for the other engineers on the team but also for the other work centers throughout the company. This position is part of a team responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, and highly available network architectures that meet external customer objectives and SLAs.

Major duties and responsibilities:

Design, implement, and maintain VSAT networksInterface directly with customers and vendors by being the company's focal point of contact for all support activities.Support, install, maintain, troubleshoot, and coordinate the usage of, but not limited to, LAN/WAN, security, UTM, VoIP, wireless, and VPN technologies for multiple customer networks.Assess customer environments and make recommendations based on needsProvide assessments, design deployment and implementation services of multi-vendor solutions, and maintain support methodologies for multiple large Energy customersAnalyze and monitor customer and backhaul network workload, capacity, and performanceWork within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructureDefine and maintain backhaul network infrastructure utilizing multiple backbone technologiesProvide engineering support for network design, upgrade, performance tuning, and monitoringNetwork incident and outage escalationLiaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem-resolutionImplement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security teamCreate and maintain all required network documentation, including diagrams and troubleshooting methodologies, using the provided toolsParticipating in on-call dutiesWHO YOU ARE

Key Qualifications

6+ years of networking experience in environments supporting multiple vendors and networking productsStrong understanding of VSAT network and satellite technologyExtensive knowledge of data communication analysis tools such as Wireshark, NetScout, Solarwinds, Cacti, etc.Well-versed with engineering and support of routers, switches, network security devices, and network management systemsDeep understanding of networking protocols (DMVPN, IPSEC, BGP, MPLS, VRF, QoS, Spanning-Tree, OSPF, RIPv2, 802.11, QoS, ACLs, DHCP, TCP/IP, DNS)Proven ability to work under pressure and interface with senior managementProficient in computer operating systems, including Windows and LinuxProficient in the use of Visio, PowerPoint, Word, and ExcelCCNA certification or equivalent experience; Fortinet experience a plusWHERE YOU’LL WORK
