Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Superintendent to oversee and manage large-scale commercial construction projects from start to finish. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing complex commercial projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Senior Superintendent will coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to deliver exceptional commercial projects that align with the company’s goals and client expectations. Key Responsibilities: Project Leadership and Oversight: Manage and supervise all on-site construction activities for large commercial projects, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and schedules. Lead daily operations on the construction site, coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, and site staff to ensure efficient workflow. Oversee site logistics, including material deliveries, workforce management, and equipment usage, to maximize productivity and maintain project standards. Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and manage on-site teams, including assistant superintendents, foremen, and other site staff. Foster a collaborative and productive work environment, promoting teamwork and alignment with project goals. Provide clear direction and communicate expectations to all on-site teams, ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and productivity. Quality Control: Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure the highest standards of construction across all aspects of the project. Review and approve work performed by subcontractors and site staff, ensuring it meets project specifications and company standards. Address and resolve any quality issues or deficiencies promptly to maintain a high level of workmanship. Safety Management: Enforce all safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA, local, state, and federal safety regulations. Conduct regular safety meetings, site inspections, and training sessions to maintain a safe work environment. Investigate and report any safety incidents, ensuring that corrective measures are implemented. Client and Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders involved in the project. Provide regular updates on project progress, addressing any concerns or changes in scope as they arise. Collaborate with project managers to ensure alignment with project goals, timelines, and client expectations. Scheduling and Coordination: Develop, monitor, and maintain project schedules, ensuring alignment of all trades and timely completion of key milestones. Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure materials and labor are available and tasks are completed on time. Identify and mitigate potential delays or scheduling conflicts to maintain the project timeline. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed project documentation, including daily logs, progress reports, inspection records, and as-built drawings. Report project status, milestones, issues, and progress to the project management team and senior leadership. Assist in the preparation of project closeout documents, punch lists, and warranty information. Problem Solving and Decision Making: Proactively identify and address challenges that arise during the construction process, particularly in commercial settings. Make informed decisions to manage risks and overcome obstacles, ensuring successful project delivery. Drive continuous improvement and implement innovative solutions to enhance project outcomes and client satisfaction. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered. Minimum of 8 years of experience as a superintendent, with specific experience in large-scale commercial projects. Extensive knowledge of commercial construction processes, methods, and best practices. Strong understanding of construction safety regulations, quality control standards, and project management principles. Proven leadership and team management skills in complex commercial environments. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, PlanGrid). Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and specifications. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Familiarity with local building codes and regulations for commercial projects.
