Environmental Partner

with a strong environmental law and/or environmental litigation background. The ideal candidate will possess regulatory experience, preferably with federal and state courts, and experience working with principal environmental agencies. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and growing practice, handling a broad spectrum of complex environmental legal matters. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage a variety of environmental legal matters, including litigation, regulatory compliance, and enforcement proceedings. Represent clients in cost recovery litigation and other environmental disputes in both federal and state courts. Provide legal counsel on consumer safety and chemical regulations, including compliance with California's Prop 65 and other relevant environmental laws. Advise clients on matters concerning air and water quality, climate change, sustainability initiatives, and renewable energy projects. Navigate regulatory proceedings and enforcement actions with federal and state environmental agencies, offering strategic legal guidance throughout. Collaborate with clients on emerging issues, including climate change policies, carbon footprint reduction strategies, and sustainable business practices. Lead interdisciplinary teams to address environmental concerns related to real estate development, corporate transactions, and compliance audits. Actively participate in business development efforts to expand the firm’s environmental practice, including building relationships with new clients and industries. Mentor and supervise junior attorneys, guiding them in their professional growth and expertise in environmental law. Stay informed of legislative updates, regulatory changes, and case law developments affecting environmental law practice areas. Qualifications and Experience: A minimum of 8 years of experience in environmental law and/or environmental litigation, with expertise in both federal and state court systems. Extensive experience working with key environmental agencies, such as the EPA, and a deep understanding of the regulatory landscape. Proven success in handling cost recovery litigation, consumer safety regulation compliance, and related environmental disputes. Familiarity with water and air quality regulations, climate change policies, and renewable energy law is highly desirable. Strong business development skills, with a demonstrated ability to attract and maintain client relationships in the environmental sector. Previous leadership experience or senior-level practice within a law firm is preferred. Educational Background: Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school. Active member in good standing with the California State Bar. Certifications: Additional certifications in environmental law or related regulatory areas are beneficial but not required. Ongoing participation in Continuing Legal Education (CLE) with a focus on environmental law, litigation, or sustainability topics is preferred. Skills and Abilities: Deep knowledge of environmental regulations at the federal, state, and local levels, with the ability to advise clients on compliance and litigation risks. Strong litigation and negotiation skills, particularly in representing clients in court and regulatory proceedings. Proven leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on mentoring junior attorneys and leading cross-functional teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex legal issues for clients and stakeholders. Entrepreneurial mindset with strong business development acumen, particularly in building a robust environmental law practice.
