Position Title: Director, Supply Chain Management Center of Excellence Department: College of Business FLSA: Not listed. Grant Funded: Yes Location: Main Campus Faculty, Staff, Admin or Student: Staff Number of Vacancies: 1 Position Summary: The College of Business at Jackson State University is accepting applications for its Director, Supply Chain Management Center of Excellence position. The SCMCOE will provide current undergraduate SCM majors and other business majors with the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills through an experiential learning curriculum focused on case studies, supply chain modeling, SCM information systems, corporate field trips, and guest lecturers.
The SCMCOE success will require a well-organized start-up and dedicated management from a full-time Director who will pursue specific short-term and longer-term goals. The ideal candidate is a JSU alumnus or alumna who has had a successful supply chain career and who is interested in giving back. Minimum Required Education:
Must possess an MBA minimally from an accredited institution. Minimum Required Experience: Significant level of achievement in a management capacity in Supply Chain Management with a minimum of ten to fifteen (10-15) years of practical experience. Experience building and managing staff and budgets. Minimum Required Licenses and/or Certifications:
None. Director Required Qualifications: Significant level of achievement in a management capacity in Supply Chain management with a minimum of 10-15 years of practical experience. Experience building and managing staff and budgets. Significant leadership and organizational abilities. Be a self-starter and able to work independently. Possess a working knowledge of SCM technology. Can work collegially with faculty/staff and interact effectively with students. Willingness to embrace the University’s academic culture and values. Possess an MBA minimally from an accredited institution. Director Desired Qualifications: Hold an SCM professional certification such as CPSM, CPIM, CPSCM, or equivalent certification. Possess excellent communication skills, listening, speaking, and writing. Demonstrated enthusiasm for working with students. A passion for the SCM profession. Some college and/or professional teaching experience. Stays abreast of functional best practices and introduces those best practices into suggested policies, practices, and training. Able to represent the university with distinction at events and forums locally and nationally. Willing to: Be videotaped for course purposes. Be flexible as duties evolve to meet university goals. Help provide career development and job internship/placement support to students. Help design and/or implement curricular activities and initiatives. Assist the Dean’s office in efforts to engage alumni and corporate leaders. Able to assume position in January 2024. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Significant leadership and organizational abilities. Be a self-starter and able to work independently. Possess a working knowledge of SCM technology. Ability to work collegially with faculty/staff and interact effectively with students. Willingness to embrace the University’s academic culture and values. Demonstrate ability to develop corporate partnerships for the Center. Ability to write grants to raise external funds. Job Duties and Responsibilities: The goal of the Supply Chain Management (SCM) Center of Excellence (SCMCOE) are as follows: Enhance Student Learning. Strengthen Corporate outreach and partnerships. Support internships, scholarships, and placement opportunities for SCM students and graduates. Short term: Develop operational budget for Supply Chain Management Center of Excellence (SCMCOE). Identify and recruit Board of Advisors. Develop Program Strategy for SCMCOE including space requirements. Develop SCMCOE scheduling and operating policies and procedures. Develop marketing and public relations and communications strategy. Identify technology partners and negotiate technology acquisitions. Identify and establish partnership with high-priority companies and professional societies to schedule SCMCOE programs. Long Term: Develop and facilitate one to two case competitions per year. Outreach to corporate SCM executives to serve as speakers and/or guest lecturers. Develop and coordinate ongoing fundraising activities in support of continued operations. Actively participate and facilitate advisory board meetings. Establish public relations and marketing campaigns to state high schools.
