The College of Health Sciences (CHS) at Jackson State University is seeking an Assessment Director to manage a comprehensive assessment program to enhance the continuous improvement efforts in accordance with program and institutional accreditation requirements. The incumbent will have dual functional roles with the College of Health Sciences and the Assistant Vice President for Institutional Research, Planning, and Effectiveness. The position will report directly to the College Dean. This collaboration aims to advance Jackson State University’s mission by guiding the CHS in developing effective strategies for conducting rigorous academic assessments of student learning and program outcomes across undergraduate and graduate programs. The Assessment Director will coordinate the collection and evaluation of all assessment documents. Qualifications
Minimum Required Education: Earned Master’s or Doctoral Degree in public health, educational research, statistics, health sciences, or a related field of study. Minimum Required Experience: Must have at least five (5) years of experience in assessment, research, or institutional effectiveness roles, preferably in a higher education or an organizational setting. Experience with assessment management systems and/or learning management systems. Strong understanding of assessment principles, methodologies, and best practices and some familiarity with accreditation standards. Minimum Required Licenses and/or Certifications: None. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong knowledge and understanding of program assessment, accountability, goal setting, and planning, as well as industry standards needed for student success after graduation. Demonstrated ability for creating and tracking measurements of program assessment. Advanced written, verbal, and oral communication skills. Must possess analytical, critical, and problem-solving skills to interpret complex data and communicate findings effectively. Demonstrated knowledge of assessment best practices. Familiarity with accreditation processes and standards, i.e., Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH), Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), and Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA). Knowledge of emerging trends and innovations in assessment. Proficiency in statistical analysis software and data visualization tools. Teaching experience from an accredited institution. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Work with department administrators, faculty, and staff to further the development of a clear and concise assessment plan reflecting regional and program accreditation requirements. Develop assessment reports focused on: Quality student learning and programmatic outcomes Analyzing results- creating summative justifications, arguments, and recommendations Evidence-Based Improvements- present plans for the implementation of findings Present findings and proposed solutions to assessment needs and improvements to curricula map. Attend and participate in departmental faculty and staff meetings, as well as meetings related to accreditation and assessment. The assessment director will coordinate the collection and evaluation of all assessment documents. Performs other duties as assigned. EEO Statement
