Wright Center House Manager coordinates event setup and directs front of house staffing to build relationships with patrons to positively impact their event experience; the House Manager is responsible for the smooth operation of the house during the run of the show for most events for Wright Center. The House Manager is also responsible for the day to day operation of the box office. Job Duties

Welcome the public to the theatre and oversee their safety and well-being before, during, and immediately after the show Responsible for managing all box office operations including supervising box office staff Prepare the theatre for opening Manage the ushers Maintain communication with the stage manager Oversee concessions and merchandise operations Monitor the performance from start to finish Conclude financial settlements with vendors Maintain communication with custodial staff Close the space after the event has ended and the audience has left File event reports Take charge during an emergency such as a medical issue, severe weather, fire, active shooter, etc. Deal effectively with a wide variety of personalities and situations requiring diplomacy, tact, friendliness, poise and firmness Demonstrate an understanding of, sensitivity to and appreciation for the diverse ethnic, socio-economic, disability and gender diversity of guests and staff attending Samford events Maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance, adhering to LSW uniform requirements Work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays Build ticketing for events and manage box supplies and equipment Works with Operations Manager to partner with other university departments, student groups, and off-campus users to ensure the success of events scheduled at Wright Center Works closely with campus services such as Facilities, Public Safety, Catering, Custodial and others to help provide vital event and daily operations support Provide first-rate customer service to patrons Schedule, assign and train student usher staff Direct usher and front of house staff on performance dates Open and close the Samford Arts Box Office Qualifications

High school diploma or GED One year of experience in theatre, events, or a related field Proficient using two-way radios Proof of eligibility to work in the United States Certified or willing to obtain certification in CPR, AED, and first aid Effective leadership and communication skills, decision-making skills, and persuasive interpersonal skills Ability to be calm under pressure Friendliness Computer literacy Knowledge of Samford and Samford values and culture Punctuality and dependability Ability to lift 10 lbs. waist high, and able to assist with set up of furniture for events as directed throughout shift Ability to read small print as on tickets Ability to climb steps repeatedly, descend/ascend ramps and inclines/declines, stand for long periods of time, and to bend, stretch, reach and kneel without restriction Work in a fast-paced, busy environment with environmental conditions such as noise, heights, dark/dim/absence of lighting Communicate effectively in English Able to open theater doors repeatedly Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in theatre, performing arts, business or related fields of study
