Job Description
We are seeking a mid-level Project Manager to oversee a large-scale state project at Virginia Military Institute in Virginia. This role requires experience in state/public sector projects and familiarity with the Commonwealth of Virginia's Construction and Professional Services Manual (CPSM). The ideal candidate will have experience in vertical construction, new construction, or heavy interior or civil construction, with at least five years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
Manage multiple projects concurrently at Virginia Military Institute.
Provide administrative support to VMI's Capital Outlay Projects Manager.
Handle paperwork and coordination on multiple projects to ensure efficient progress.
Perform boots-on-the-ground work as needed.
Understand and adhere to organizational bounds and procedures.
Essential Skills
Experience in project management and construction management.
Familiarity with CPSM (Construction Services Professional Manual).
Comfortable managing multiple projects concurrently.
Experience in large-scale building construction, interior or heavy civil construction, and vertical construction.
Five plus years of experience in project management.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture.
Certifications such as PMP, PE, AIA, and CCM are preferred.
Knowledge and experience in preparing and analyzing construction documents.
Ability to develop and analyze construction CPM schedules, contractor payment requisitions, RFIs, changes, and requests for equitable adjustments.
Ability to critically read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Familiarity with CPM scheduling and industry-standard scheduling software.
Experience with cost estimating practices and standard construction cost estimating software.
Ability to manage budgets and large teams.
Experience with establishing and maintaining document control on design/construction projects.
Strong leadership skills.
Experience working on public sector projects is a plus.
Work Environment
The projects will be based at Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, VA. This role involves both office work and on-site presence, collaborating closely with VMI's construction team. The work environment is dynamic, with opportunities for growth and long-term commitment within an exceptional team.
