Position Overview The HR Generalist will handle the daily operations of the Human Resources department, supporting functions such as employee relations, onboarding, HRIS updates, compliance, and benefits administration. This role plays a pivotal part in fostering a positive workplace culture within the facility.
The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills, capable of managing confidential information with integrity. This position requires adherence to employment laws and policies while contributing to the growth and cultural development of the organization.
Core Responsibilities
Onboarding and New Hires: Oversee the onboarding process, including I-9 verification, background checks, drug screenings, and new hire orientation, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed accurately.
HRIS Management: Update and maintain employee data within the HRIS system to support accurate reporting and record-keeping.
Employee Relations: Serve as a resource for employees by addressing workplace concerns, facilitating conflict resolution, and escalating complex issues as needed.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws, as well as company policies and procedures.
Training and Documentation: Monitor and track compliance with ethics and anti-harassment training programs. Draft and process HR documentation, including offer letters, job descriptions, and other employee records.
Investigations and Disciplinary Actions: Participate in or facilitate employee investigations and disciplinary processes in collaboration with leadership.
Recruitment Support: Assist in recruitment and talent acquisition initiatives.
Research and Reporting: Conduct research and analyze data for various HR projects and initiatives.
Travel Requirements: Occasional travel may be required, approximately 10% of the time, with same-week returns.
Key Requirements
Bilingual fluency in both Spanish and English (spoken and written).
Preferably based in the Victoria, TX area.
Candidates must not have prior employment with Safety Rail Service or VLS.
Applicants must not be related to any current employees at VLS.
Previous experience in an industrial setting is advantageous.
Additional Details
This role reports directly to the Corporate HR Manager, not the facility manager.
The HR Generalist will not handle payroll, timekeeping, or benefits administration tasks.
