Detailed Description: The Outdoor Adventures Program Coordinator is responsible for assisting in creating a diverse and inclusive recreational environment that serves the University of San Diego community. The Program Coordinator works collaboratively with various departments to plan, implement and lead outdoor recreation programs, including the Pre-Orientation Adventure program and teambuilding for campus partners. Responsibilities include logistical management, planning and execution of trips, leadership training for student trip leaders, and managing program equipment. Duties and Responsibilities: Trips Program Management: Oversee planning, coordination, and execution of outdoor outings, ensuring seamless operations in scheduling, staffing, marketing, and budget oversight. Lead trips aligned with the University’s strategic plan, emphasizing environmental justice education. Maintain accurate post-trip records and reports to ensure program effectiveness. Participate in risk and emergency management training. Leadership Development and Training: Collaborate with the Assistant Director to recruit, train, and mentor student trip guides. Design and deliver training sessions for student outing guides and university personnel. Operations and Administrative Oversight: Support day-to-day operations, including rental and retail management, scheduling, and financial transactions. Lead the retail operations of the department, including strategy development and supervising student workers. Contribute to division/campus projects to help accomplish student success goals. Special Conditions of Employment: This is a full-time position including evenings and weekends and multi-day overnight trips as needed. Must be able to travel on extended out-of-town trips and conferences. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness Advanced First Aid Certificate Leave No Trace Trainer or Master Educator Valid US driver's license Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required, preferably in recreation administration or related field. Two years of experience in outdoor education and/or leading outdoor trips. Current Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness Advanced First Aid Certificate. Leave No Trace Trainer or Master Educator certification. Must possess a valid US driver’s license. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in recreation administration or equivalent work experience. Previous experience with a college/university outdoor program is highly desirable. Performance Expectations: Ability to work with minimal supervision on various projects. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
