Job Title: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Job Specialty: General Surgery Job Duration: Not specified Shift: Evenings, 8 hours (80 hours per pay period) Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: 1 year preferred; new graduates may be considered with completed clinical experience License: Graduate from an accredited Associate degree surgical technologist program Certifications: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required within 12 months of hire, Current BLS certification required Must-Have: Solid PC skills to include MS applications and Internet Job Description: - Assist the surgeon during operative procedures within scope of practice, such as holding retractors, cutting suture material as directed, connecting drains to suction apparatus, and applying dressings. - Ensure a safe environment by implementing surgical asepsis, sterile technique, surgical conscience, universal precautions, and safety procedures. - Care for instruments and equipment before, during, and after surgery to ensure proper functioning for future use. - Participate in Quality Improvement activities to ensure exceptional care for surgical services customers and families. - Recognize emergency situations and respond promptly and effectively. - Collaborate with other health care providers to optimize customer outcomes. - Evaluate one's own practice with regard to professional standards and relevant statutes and regulations. - Comply with legal, regulatory, accrediting, and procedural requirements related to area of responsibility. - Follow principles and standards outlined in the organization's Code of Conduct. - Protect customer and team member privacy, accessing related information only as needed to perform job duties. - Report violations or concerns to leadership or Compliance Officer using established communication methods.
