Job Title: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Job Specialty: General Surgery Job Duration: Not Specified Shift: Varied Days/Nights, 80 Hours Per Pay Period (8 & 12 hours), 72 Hours Per Pay Period Guaranteed Hours: Not Specified Experience: 1 year of previous Surgical Technologist experience preferred (New graduates who have successfully completed clinical experience will be considered) License: Not Specified Certifications: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through a governing body obtained within 12 months of hire; Current BLS certification Must-Have: Graduate from an accredited Associate Degree surgical technologist program; Solid PC skills include MS applications and Internet Job Description: - Provide assistance and support to the surgeon and operative team to ensure a safe environment. - Adhere to surgical concepts and infection control principles. - Assist the surgeon during operative procedures with duties such as holding retractors, cutting suture material, connecting drains to suction apparatus, and applying dressing. - Create a safe environment by implementing surgical asepsis, sterile technique, and universal precautions. - Care for instruments and equipment before, during, and after surgery to ensure proper functioning. - Participate in Quality Improvement activities to ensure exceptional care for surgical services customers and families. - Recognize emergency situations and respond promptly and effectively. - Collaborate with other healthcare providers to ensure optimal outcomes for patients. - Evaluate practice in relation to professional standards and relevant regulations. - Recognize and comply with legal, regulatory, accrediting, and procedural requirements. - Understand and follow principles and standards as outlined in the Code of Conduct. - Protect patient and team member privacy and access related information only as needed. - Report violations or areas of concern to a leader or Compliance Officer via established communication methods. - Participate in on-call and weekend rotations as required.
