Job Title: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Job Specialty: General Surgery Job Duration: Not specified Shift: Varied Days/Evenings, 8 & 12 hours Guaranteed Hours: 80 hours per pay period Experience: Previous experience preferred; new graduates with relevant clinical experience considered License: Graduate from an accredited Associate degree surgical technologist program Certifications: - Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through a governing body, such as the National Board Surgical Technologists or National Center for Competency Testing; or obtained within 12 months of hire - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Must-Have: Solid PC skills including Microsoft applications and Internet Job Description: - Assist the surgeon during operative procedures with duties such as holding retractors, cutting suture material as directed, connecting drains to suction apparatus, and applying dressing. - Create a safe environment by implementing surgical asepsis, sterile techniques, surgical conscience, universal precautions, and all safety procedures. - Care for instruments and equipment before, during, and after surgery to ensure proper functioning for future use. - Participate in Quality Improvement activities to ensure exceptional care for surgical services customers and families. - Recognize emergency situations and respond promptly and effectively. - Collaborate with other healthcare providers to ensure optimal outcomes for customers. - Evaluate personal practice in relation to professional standards and relevant regulations. - Comply with legal, regulatory, accrediting, and procedural requirements related to the area of responsibility. - Understand and follow principles and standards outlined in the organizational Code of Conduct. - Protect customer and team member privacy and only access related information as needed to perform job duties. - Report violations or areas of concern to a leader or Corporate Compliance Officer through established communication methods.
