Claims Operations Specialist

About the Role:

This person should be self-motivated with analytical skills and attention to detail. This person must be able to work in a dynamic environment with the ability to navigate through periods of change and ambiguity.

  • Set up new claims including, but not limited to, initial review, coverage analysis, selection of the correct Policy, Policy Period, Policy Line of Business, Claimant and Claim Type within established turnaround time.
  • Independently analyze and understand Direct Insurance policies. Demonstrate know-how in applying that knowledge. (i.e. suspended items and policy searches)
  • Demonstrate proactive problem solving and proactive critical thinking skill.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the financial transaction end-to-end process and understand the impact of automation and dependencies.
  • Ensure requirements of corporate policies and controls are met.
About the Team:

Our Claims APH & XSWC team brings significant value to Swiss Re with accurate and knowledgeable claims handling. Our Specialists are an integral force within the teams by remaining abreast of company and industry changes as well as changes in internal processes and procedures. They lead the way ensuring team objectives are completed timely and accurately according to, and exceeding, company and industry standards.

About You:

If you are collaborative, can be agile across multiple priorities and keen on meeting deadlines, this role may be for you!
  • Insurance experience, preferably 2-3 years in Claims or Claims Operations
  • Ability to handle multiple activities, meet deadlines and prioritize workload.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.


The position will be located in our Kansas City, MO office. Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office two to three days per week on average.
