About Us: The Carlson Law Firm represents owners, developers, contractors and industry professionals in development, preconstruction, construction and post construction litigation matters. The Orlando office is looking for a new Associate Attorney to work with the managing partner to handle all aspects of litigation, including developing case strategy, conducting discovery, taking depositions, drafting motions, attending hearings and negotiating settlement. Job Overview: The Construction Litigation Attorney will be responsible for representing clients in legal disputes related to construction projects. This includes advising on construction contracts, handling disputes arising from construction defects, delays, breaches of contract, and other related issues. Successful candidates should be a minimum of one year post passing the Florida Bar and licensed to practice law in Florida. Additionally, we are looking for someone motivated to learn and delve into the details of construction defect litigation, all while enjoying a collegiate atmosphere in a small firm environment. Key Responsibilities: Litigation and Dispute Resolution: Represent clients in all phases of construction-related litigation, including pre-trial motions, depositions, hearings, arbitrations, and trials. Handle disputes over construction defects, contract breaches, delays, construction liens, payment disputes, and other construction law matters. Legal Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough legal research to support case preparation, including analyzing construction contracts, industry regulations, and applicable laws. Client Consultation and Strategy: Assist in providing expert legal counsel to clients, advising them on the legal aspects of construction projects, risk management, and dispute resolution strategies. Drafting Legal Documents: Prepare, review, and draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, contracts, and settlement agreements related to construction disputes. Negotiation: Engage in settlement negotiations, mediation, and arbitration proceedings to resolve construction-related conflicts in a timely and cost-effective manner. Collaboration: Work closely with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to manage case files and ensure that all deadlines and requirements are met. Client Management: Maintain strong client relationships by providing regular updates, managing expectations, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the legal process. Qualifications: Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Licensing: Active and good standing license to practice law in Florida. Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience practicing law. Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and writing skills. Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide clear, practical solutions. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
