Job Description Job Title: RN - Emergency Department - Nights Profession: Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty: Inpatient - Registered/Licensed Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12.5 hours (6:45 pm - 7:15 am) Experience: 2 years License: Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN Multi-state Compact Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Must-Have: Strong interpersonal skills, customer service skills, ability to function in a fast-paced environment, decisive and composed during emergencies, excellent time management skills, strong critical thinking skills
Description: The RN Clinical Nurse in the Emergency Department is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team. They ensure patients and families receive individualized, high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment supported through a Shared Governance Model. The framework for practice is guided by a Professional Practice Model and evidence-based research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by core values. It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses Emergency Services are licensed and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Professional Nurse Practice Act. As a member of the patient services team, it is expected to uphold the voice of the patient and system policies while supporting service excellence goals.
Responsibilities include performing the nursing process, providing patient-centered care consistent with population-specific characteristics, and partnering with patients and significant others. They coordinate the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care. They demonstrate teamwork and collaboration by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner and support performance improvement. RN Clinical Nurses also participate in professional development, serving as preceptors or mentors, and promote evidence-based practice and research. They proactively plan for patient care across the continuum and participate in protocol development. The role supports efficient use of resources and other duties as assigned.
Education and Skills Required: Graduate of an accredited nursing school. Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred. Ability to read, write, and speak English. Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills. Possess basic computer skills. Ability to respond to emergencies decisively and composed. Excellent time management and critical thinking skills are essential.
