Job Details: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Assistant Controller. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a well-respected organization and to contribute to its strategic direction. The Assistant Controller will be responsible for managing the balance sheet, conducting audits, overseeing budgeting, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with GAAP. This role will also involve supporting the Controller in strategic decision-making processes. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
Responsibilities: 1. Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes. 2. Conduct thorough audits of financial operations, business processes, and compliance with relevant regulations. 3. Prepare and present financial reports for senior management, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities. 4. Manage the balance sheet to ensure that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reflected. 5. Develop and maintain budgets, monitor performance against budgets, and provide detailed analysis of variances. 6. Ensure compliance with GAAP and any other applicable financial reporting standards and government regulations. 7. Collaborate with the Controller to enhance financial procedures, process improvements, and financial controls. 8. Provide financial insights and recommendations to assist in strategic decision-making processes. 9. Liaise with external auditors and manage internal controls.
Qualifications: 1. Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA or equivalent qualification is preferred. 2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role. 3. Strong knowledge of GAAP and other relevant financial regulations and standards. 4. Proven experience in balance sheet management, auditing, budgeting, and report preparation. 5. Excellent analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills. 6. Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers. 7. Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to present financial information and complex financial concepts to non-financial audiences. 8. Proficiency in using financial software and advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel. 9. High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
