The Product Manager is responsible for creating and maintaining a product vision, planning and executing the product vision in coordination with technical developers throughout the product development lifecycle, including gathering and prioritizing solution and customer requirements, delivering successful Minimum Viable Product (MVP) iterations, and managing ongoing iterative product updates.This position will report to the Vice President of Product Management in the Office of the Chief Data Officer and work on growing and evolving new and existing software products in conjunction with teams in MGT’s Technology Solutions and Social Impact Solutions groups.The Product Manager is responsible for the product development lifecycle, beginning with ideation and discovery through development and delivery of the product. The Product Manager represents the needs of internal and external end-customers, collaborating with the development team to create alignment between the strategic goals of the product and development releases. They work closely with internal and external stakeholders to inform product prioritization, resolve problems, and deliver value-creating product enhancements. They prioritize daily work across the development team and validate the product. The Product Manager also coordinates with the business team, internal subject matter experts, and sales and marketing teams.To be successful, candidates should have served in a Product Manager role previously. Candidates must be comfortable presenting in front of virtual and physical groups and be looking for advancement in their career. The individual should also have a genuine interest in working on public sector, mission-driven work.MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITYDefine product strategy and own the product development roadmapIdentify product enhancements and related system improvementsSupport the evaluation of new product ideas through research, lean business case development, and financial analysisUnderstand the market for each relevant product and stay up to date on competitor developments and other shifts in market dynamics to inform product development strategyWork on multiple products simultaneously and collaborate across internal teamsEngage internal and external system users with empathy to understand product pain points, successes, and recommendations, including in focus groupsWrite and maintain user stories and acceptance criteria that reflect desired functionalityMaintain and prioritize backlogs and roadmaps, collaborating with the business team, development team, and other stakeholdersManage product deployments based on projected team capacity, estimated size of features, business priorities, and resource constraintsLead recurring agile and ad hoc meetings with development and quality assurance teamsManage relationships with developers and inform development contract decisionsEnsure developers maintain technical documentationDelegate responsibilities to supporting team membersLearn MGT’s core businesses and markets that use its SaaS productsPerform other duties as assignedParticipate in corporate activities and show a commitment to firm cultureWork in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environmentMinimal travel is anticipated, but some travel will be required throughout the yearMust be comfortable working more than 40 hours per week when neededLocation is negotiable, office location will be remoteMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree requiredAt least three (3) years of previous work experiencePrevious experience working as a Product Manager, including experience managing a product roadmap, working with designers and engineers, and writing and refining user storiesThe ability to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends, develop solutions, and incorporate them into a product roadmapThe ability to connect with people both on an individual level and in large groups, and to coordinate work proactively with relevant stakeholdersKnowledge and appreciation of business concepts, strong business writing and presentation skills, effective communication and organization skills, and an ability to synthesize and share knowledgeAn understanding of the product development lifecycle and experience with Agile software development best practicesExperience with Atlassian Jira software and Microsoft Office SuiteA sense of humor and the ability to work across multiple teamsAn interest in working with an innovative company seeking to expand its focus on products, including by developing and launching new productsAn interest in working with public sector users and clientsAn interest in learning about new markets and working on multiple products simultaneouslyThe ability to perform basic financial analysis and modellingThe ability to work well with other team members and delegate work as neededPREFFERED QUALIFICATIONSCSPO or CSM certification strongly preferredMaster’s degreePast experience building and launching new software products a significant plusPast experience working on cybersecurity-related and/or data-intensive products a plusMGT of America Consulting, LLC will not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, marital status, genetic information, sexual orientation, pregnancy, gender identity, or any other characteristic or class protected by law.
