A master’s degree and classroom experience as an associate or lead teacher are required. Academic or professional experience in gifted education, creative problem-solving, and inquiry-based education is preferred. Must be experienced with the developmental needs of 5-9-year-old children. Excellent communication skills and flexibility are required.Responsibilities

The co-teachers will equally share classroom goals, instruction, resources, responsibility of students, classroom management, and parent communication. The co-teacher will partner in planning, organization, delivery, and assessment of instruction through a variety of ways throughout the year. Decision-making will be shared. The co-teacher will work collaboratively with other teachers and content-area specialists. Responsibilities also include supervision of students during on- and off-campus school activities, participation in class outings, and attendance at faculty and department/grade-level meetings.Approaches to co-teaching may include but are not limited to:Dual Teaching:

Both teachers are directly providing instruction to students at the same time, allowing for turn-taking in teaching the lesson and demonstrating concepts.Speak and Add:

One teacher is primarily responsible for delivery of instruction while the other teacher adds or expands and records key information on charts.Alternative or Differentiated Teaching:

One teacher teaches the bulk of the students, and the other teaches a small group providing specialized attention based on specific needs.One Teaching, One Assisting/Adapting:

One teacher instructs while the other adapts lessons for and assists individual students as needed.One Teaching, One Observing:

One teacher instructs while the other observes for evidence of learning, gathering specific observational data to analyze together.Parallel Teaching:

The class is divided into two groups where each teacher teaches the same information simultaneously, providing smaller group sizes.Station Teaching:

Content is divided between teachers, each teaching content to different groups while a third station fosters independence and practice.This position is full-time.SCDS offers a competitive salary and benefits package. Salary range is $65,500 to $124,100 depending on qualifications. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, long-term disability, an excellent retirement plan, and a section 125 plan.
