The essential duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:Assists, develops, and implements goals, objectives, policies, and priorities of the Power Enterprise.Plans, organizes, directs, controls, and reviews the operation and services of the Engineering & Field Operations Section.Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of the division’s organizational structure, staff assignments, service levels, and administrative systems.Interacts with other SFPUC staff, Commission, other City departments; and local, state, and federal authorities in addressing the energy needs of the City.Develops and implements operational and capital budgets and monitors expenditures.Supervises the maintenance and development of transmission and distribution services.IDEAL CANDIDATE and COMPETENCIESThe ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record and ability to exercise the following competencies:Relationship Management : Engages and works collaboratively with diverse neighborhoods, other departments, and the SFPUC's Executive Team.Strategic Planning : Implements plans and allocates resources to achieve the long-term goals of the organization.Business Acumen : Develops sound budgets and plans surrounding the financial and operational functions of the organization.Change Management : Drives the adoption and usage of new solutions.Accountability : Acts as a responsible steward of the resources entrusted to the SFPUC.Risk Management : Identifies, assesses, and mitigates operational risks.Talent Management : Builds and develops a highly-skilled workforce.Innovation : Encourages exploration of new ideas and improvements.Safety Excellence : Promotes a safety culture of the highest standard.Valuing Diversity : Fosters an inclusive and cooperative work environment.Minimum QualificationsEducation : Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.Experience : Six (6) years of professional work experience in planning, design, and implementation of electric infrastructure projects, which must include supervisory experience.Desirable qualifications may be used to identify job finalists at the end of the selection process when candidates are referred for hiring.Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Project or Construction Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field.Registered Professional Electrical Engineer in California.Experience working within a publicly owned utility governance structure.HOW TO APPLYApplications for City and County of San Francisco jobs are only accepted through an online process.
