sfpuc.org .The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) Power Enterprise has two separate retail electric power programs -- Hetch Hetchy Power, San Francisco's Publicly Owned Utility, and CleanPowerSF, San Francisco's Community Choice Aggregation program serving approximately 70% of the electricity consumed in San Francisco.The Class 0941 Deputy Assistant General Manager ("DAGM"), Power Engineering & Field Operations assists, develops, and implements goals, objectives, policies, and priorities of the Power Enterprise; plans, organizes, directs, controls and reviews the operation and services of the Engineering & Field Operations Division. The essential duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:Assists, develops, and implements goals, objectives, policies, and priorities of the Power Enterprise.Plans, organizes, directs, controls, and reviews the operation and services of the Engineering & Field Operations Section.Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of the division’s organizational structure, staff assignments, service levels, and administrative systems.Interacts with other SFPUC staff, Commission, other City departments; and local, state, and federal authorities in addressing the energy needs of the City.Develops and implements operational and capital budgets and monitors expenditures.Supervises the maintenance and development of transmission and distribution services.IDEAL CANDIDATE and COMPETENCIESThe ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record and ability to exercise the following competencies which are the most critical to Power Enterprise’s DAGM role:Relationship Management : Leverages outstanding communication skills to build open, honest, and respectful relationships.Strategic Planning : Formulates objectives and priorities, implements plans, and allocates resources.Business Acumen : Leverages business concepts, terms, and tools to achieve desired outcomes.Change Management : Provides active and visible sponsorship for change initiatives.Accountability : Inspires trust by acting with integrity, honesty, and fairness.Risk Management : Identifies, assesses, and mitigates operational risks.Talent Management : Builds and develops a highly-skilled workforce.Innovation : Creates a thriving culture in which employees feel safe to explore new ideas.Safety Excellence : Actively promotes a safety culture of the highest standard.Valuing Diversity : Recognizes the role of diversity in assembling capable teams.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation : Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.Experience : Six (6) years of professional work experience in planning, design, and implementation of electric infrastructure projects, including supervisory experience.Substitution : Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.Desirable Qualifications : The stated desirable qualifications may be used to identify job finalists at the end of the selection process.Bachelor’s degree in a related field.Registered Professional Electrical Engineer in California.Experience working within a publicly owned utility governance structure.Experience supervising the work of represented professional and skilled trade teams.HOW TO APPLYApplications for City and County of San Francisco jobs are only accepted through an online process.
