Job Description

Nevada State University invites applications for the position of Community, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (CEDI) Student Worker.

The CEDI Student Worker will assist with event development, conducting research, data collection, resource development, collaboration, and co-facilitation of trainings. They will develop a comprehensive knowledge of CEDI diversity & equity initiatives and programs. The CEDI Student Worker acts as a student liaison for the Office of CEDI to various committees, task force meetings, student government, and student organizations, such as through offering student-facing workshops and resources. The CEDI Student Worker will interact with external community partners and must represent themselves with a high level of professionalism. They will be involved in developing high-level and sensitivity trainings and resources to create a more equitable campus for historically minoritized communities. We trust each CEDI Student Worker to demonstrate autonomy, empathy and high-level emotional intelligence to engage in complex discussions around race, class, gender, sexuality, immigration, ableism, & other topics.

The CEDI student worker will also support the daily operations of the Multicultural Collective, offer administrative and office support duties, research strategies for successful student and employee engagement, and work with CEDI staff to develop best practices for passive, social, and educational programming and student trainings. They will work on special projects agreed upon with the CEDI staff. Training and coaching will be provided.

Core Responsibilities:

Program & Training DevelopmentAssist with the design and execution of CEDI events & special projects as assigned.Collaborate with student organizations, staff, and faculty to identify campus and community needs.Support students and staff in their understanding and awareness of national and local policies, practices, and approaches that impact students from historically minoritized communities.Take an active role in co-developing and co-leading facilitation of campus-wide trainings related to DEI to support the enhancement of campus culture, including complex and dynamics topics such as LGBTQIA2+, Anti-Racism, immigration, allyship, and other topics.Lead student-facing workshops and resource development related to DEI initiatives and practices.Offer support to CEDI office programming's and trainings through facilitation, recommendations, research, resource development, data collection, etc.Conduct research, data collection, and skills development for social justice, diversity, & equity programming and student trainings, with the opportunity to present their work at local and national conferences.Attend trainings, conferences, and professional development opportunities to gain additional expertise, skills, and knowledge related to relevant topics.

OutreachWork with the marketing team and other office student workers to create, post, and promote programming marketing materials via social media and develop resources.Table and engage with larger campus community to promote CEDI office programming and student trainings.

Professional Development & Clerical SupportSupport the day-to-day operations of the Multicultural Collective.Serve as a campus liaison between student organizations and CEDI.Attend weekly one-on-one meetings with supervisor to discuss job responsibilities, development of programing topics, and feedback for growth.Assist with office support, including creating and editing Word documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.Receive training and professional development related to DEI topics.Represent self and the office with a high degree of professionalism when engaging in leadership of peers.

Minimum Qualifications:Must be in good academic standing and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher.Must be enrolled as a degree seeking student with a minimum of 6 credits in the current or upcoming semester at Nevada State.Desire to promote resources that correspond to student needs for academic success and overall well-being.Desire to promote social justice and equity within the greater campus community.Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs with proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.Excellent verbal and written communication and public speaking skills.Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).

Work Hours:

This position will work 15 hours per week. Student employees can work up to 19.5 hours per week.

Hourly Rate:

$14.00 per hour.
