A law firm in Washington, DC is seeking an experienced Employee Benefits Attorney with 5+ years of experience in retirement and welfare benefit plans. The ideal candidate will advise clients on a wide range of employee benefit plans, with a focus on both ongoing benefits work and issues arising in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), business transactions, and financings. Strong academic credentials, relevant law firm experience, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential. Bar admission in the District of Columbia (or eligibility for prompt admission) is required.Responsibilities:

Provide comprehensive legal advice and counsel to clients on employee benefit plans, including retirement and welfare benefit plans.Advise clients on benefits-related issues arising in corporate transactions such as mergers, acquisitions, and financings.Draft, review, and negotiate complex employee benefit plan documents, including plan amendments and restatements.Ensure compliance with ERISA, tax, and other regulatory requirements governing employee benefit plans.Collaborate with clients, accountants, consultants, and other professionals to address benefits-related matters effectively.Stay current on legal developments and regulations impacting employee benefits law and communicate implications to clients.Handle administrative tasks related to employee benefit plans, such as filings with governmental agencies and plan administration issues.Requirements:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.5+ years of experience practicing employee benefits law, ideally encompassing both retirement and welfare benefit plans.Strong understanding of ERISA, tax laws, and other relevant regulations governing employee benefit plans.Prior law firm experience preferred; experience at an accounting firm or consulting firm in employee benefits may also be considered.Excellent academic credentials demonstrating high achievement in legal education.Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly and effectively.Membership in good standing with the District of Columbia Bar (or eligibility for prompt admission).Preferred Skills:

Experience advising clients in various industries on benefits-related matters.Ability to work independently and manage complex projects efficiently.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients.
