The State Medical Board of Ohio is seeking an experienced Attorney to join our Sexual Misconduct Unit which will handle sexual misconduct cases involving our licensees. This position will work under the direction of the Chief of Sexual Misconduct Unit and will require a thorough knowledge of substantive and procedural law. It is imperative that this position adheres to our customer service standards when interacting with our internal and external customers.Classification : Attorney 4Division : Sexual MisconductLocation : 30 E. Broad Street - 3rd Floor; Columbus, OH 43215Job duties for this position include but are not limited to the following:Serves as lead attorney & assists with resolving complex legal issues.Reviews work product including citations, consent agreements & recommendations.Holds conferences which may result in recommendations as to how, or whether, to proceed on cases.Advises & provides guidance to enforcement & investigative staff on cases involving sexual misconduct allegations.Reviews & assigns cases & projects to enforcement attorneys & support personnel.Reviews prioritization of cases & recommends change in priority, as necessary.Reviews post-cite settlement agreements of the board’s Assistant Attorneys General.Coordinates legal strategy with Assistant Attorneys General regarding administrative hearings & litigation/appeals.Adheres to customer service standards when interacting with internal/external customers.Proactively identifies customer needs & works to resolve customer complaints.Reviews cases & advises Secretary & Supervising Member of the board with options regarding further legal action.Prepares cases for citation.Contacts, interviews & deposes witnesses.Contacts & interviews expert medical witnesses.Prepares difficult & complex allegations wherein disciplinary action is contemplated against applicants & licensees of the board.Conducts legal research & prepares contracts & other legal documents.Meets & coordinates matters with appropriate federal, state & local law enforcement agencies & other boards, agencies & departments.Reviews highly confidential material & helps to coordinate agency activity to avoid duplication of effort.Prepares & delivers speeches and/or trainings.Represents agency and/or Deputy Director in meetings.Cooperates with Ohio Attorney General on legal issues as required.This position is unclassified per Ohio Revised Code 124.11 (A)(9).
