A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a highly experienced Intellectual Property Income Partner with substantial expertise in global patent prosecution and opinion work in the life sciences sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patent prosecution and counseling, including experience with licensing and agreement work. A superior academic record, excellent writing and oral communication skills, and a focus on life sciences, particularly biotech, are essential. Experience in pharma/biotech and a small amount of portable business are advantageous.Key Responsibilities:Lead and oversee global patent prosecution efforts, specializing in life sciences and biotech fields.Provide expert legal counsel on patent matters, including drafting, reviewing, and managing patent applications and responses.Offer strategic opinions on complex patent issues to ensure robust intellectual property protection for clients.Manage and negotiate patent licensing and agreement processes, ensuring compliance and favorable terms.Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships, providing strategic advice and tailored solutions on intellectual property matters.Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including scientists and business professionals, to address and meet client needs.Stay updated on developments in patent law and life sciences to deliver cutting-edge legal strategies and advice.Mentor and guide junior attorneys and staff in intellectual property law and practice.Requirements:Juris Doctorate (JD) required.PhD in biological sciences preferred.Must be licensed to practice law in the District of Columbia.Minimum of 10 years of experience in intellectual property law, with a strong focus on life sciences and biotech.Demonstrated expertise in global patent prosecution and counseling.Familiarity with patent licensing and agreement work preferred.Superior academic record with excellent written and oral communication skills.Skills:In-depth knowledge of patent prosecution and opinion work, particularly within life sciences and biotech.Strong understanding of patent licensing and agreement negotiations.Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly and effectively.Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.Experience in developing and sustaining client relationships.Proficiency in working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.Preferred Experience:Background in pharma/biotech sectors is highly desirable.A small amount of portable business is a plus but not required.
