Summary:

As a Production Designer, you will support the creative integration of visual and verbal resources by working collaboratively with a team of designers to produce quality educational materials. You will use your technical skills and sharp eye for detail as you work alongside the rest of the design team to implement a Lead Designer's vision. This role provides you the opportunity to support the shaping of a student and teacher experience from a biblical worldview.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Brainstorm, plan, and collaborate with the Lead Designer and Design team on decisions related to the look and feel of a product (e.g. illustration style, typography choices, layout, covers, icons, infographics, etc.)Create Word templates for writers and editors and provide assistance in using themResponsible for assigned Production tasks on all piecesCommunicate between the Design team and the production team as necessaryProvide technically accurate files to the BJU Press Printing DivisionMaintain integrity of project files until they are archivedAssist in the mentorship of the Design AssistantsDevelop or improve skills required for advancement to a Senior Production Designer roleREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Excellent communication skills and an ability to positively interact with vendors and other team membersDetail-oriented with an eye for user-friendly design in educational materialsHigh level of creative and problem-solving skillsThe ability to adhere to established style guidelinesAbility to meet deadlinesStrong organizational and prioritization skillsExperience with, or ability to learn, publishing software such as Adobe InDesign and InCopyA passion for continuous improvementKnowledge of digital formats such as HTML and ePub is a plus; familiar with the Apple OSX operating system
