Job Title: Cross Train to Oncology Program Job Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Oncology Job Duration: 26 to 39 weeks with potential for a permanent role Shift: Day 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:30); Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30) Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: 1 year experience required in PCU/Stepdown. Oncology preferred but not required. License: Must have a valid compact or state nursing license. Certifications: BCLS and ACLS required Must-Have: Familiarity with Pyxis medication system Job Description: - Opportunities for growth in oncology nursing with provided assistance for chemotherapy certification.- Nurse-to-patient ratios are adjusted based on acuity.- Flexibility to float to different units within the same specialty.- Requires a regular work schedule of 36 to 40 shifts per week during orientation, transitioning to 36 shifts thereafter.- Rotating day and night shifts every 4 weeks, with mandatory availability for alternating weekend shifts.- Competency in interpreting and managing dysrhythmias.- Knowledge and experience with Rapid Response Teams.- Competence in gastrointestinal care and feeding tube management.- Skilled in IV therapy, starting IVs, and phlebotomy.- Previous experience with blood product administration.- Understanding of peripheral line care and management.- Preferred experience in oncology, specifically in inpatient oncology or outpatient chemotherapy infusion centers.- Commitment to the full contract term and a focus on upskilling and expanding oncology knowledge.- Willingness to obtain chemotherapy competency with access to resources for certification courses. Candidates must have education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program. Flu vaccination is required, with medical exemptions accepted. Compliance requirements include completing fingerprinting promptly upon contract acceptance.
