About Us:

Syndicate is a family-office owned investment firm with a diversified portfolio of companies in the firearms industry. We are in an active growth phase, pursuing multiple acquisitions to expand our market presence and drive long-term value. We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to manage our financial operations and support our ambitious growth strategy.

Position Overview:

The Director of FP&A will be responsible for overseeing the annual budgeting process, financial reporting, and treasury management for the holding company and its portfolio companies. This role will also involve establishing and implementing best-practice financial processes, hiring and training a team of junior FP&A analysts assigned to specific business units, and providing strategic financial insights to support the company's expansion efforts. This position will report directly to the CFO and play a key role in enhancing our financial management and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Budget Management:

Lead the development and execution of the annual budgeting process for the holding company and its portfolio companies.

Collaborate with senior management and portfolio company leaders to set financial targets, create detailed budgets, and ensure alignment with strategic objectives.

Monitor budget performance, analyze variances, and provide recommendations to address financial issues and optimize performance.

Financial Reporting:

Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports, including P&L statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and management discussion & analysis.

Present financial reports and analyses to senior management and the family office, highlighting key insights and trends.

Develop and implement reporting frameworks and dashboards to effectively monitor financial performance and key metrics.

Treasury Management:

Manage treasury functions, including cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, and banking relationships.

Develop strategies to optimize cash reserves, manage debt, and ensure adequate funding for operations and acquisitions.

Oversee cash management processes to maintain liquidity and support operational and strategic initiatives.

Process Improvement:

Establish and implement best-practice financial processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Continuously evaluate and improve financial systems, workflows, and controls to support robust financial management and compliance.

Develop and enforce financial policies and procedures to ensure consistency and best practices across the organization.

Acquisition Support:

Provide financial analysis and due diligence support for acquisition opportunities, including valuation, integration planning, and financial impact assessments.

Collaborate with M&A teams to evaluate financial aspects of potential acquisitions and ensure successful integration into existing operations.

Team Leadership and Development:

Hire, train, and manage a team of junior FP&A analysts, assigning them to specific business units within the portfolio.

Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the FP&A team, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities.

Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of the FP&A team.

Strategic Financial Analysis:

Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and identify growth opportunities.

Create and maintain financial models to evaluate the impact of strategic initiatives and operational changes.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred.

8+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis, with at least 3 years in a director-level or senior management role.

Proven expertise in budget management, financial reporting, and treasury functions.

Experience in the firearms industry or a related sector is highly desirable.

Demonstrated success in establishing and implementing financial processes and best practices.

Strong leadership skills with experience in hiring, training, and managing a team of financial analysts.

Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, ERP systems).

Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey financial information clearly to senior management and stakeholders.
