Overview

Rutgers Law Library has as its primary mission to serve the educational and research needs of the faculty and students of the School of Law. The library also supports the legal research needs of the Rutgers University community. To the extent that it is compatible with its primary and secondary missions, the library will provide service to others. We are the most comprehensive public law library in New Jersey. The Law Library also provides the students and faculty of the Law School with access to major full-text legal databases. Those databases include not only the current statutes and regulations and complete case law of the federal government and all the states, but also extensive collections of scholarly commentary, practitioners' treatises, historical legal material, and material on foreign law. The Senior Department Administrator position will be located in Newark, NJ.

Posting Summary

This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:Oversees all business practices of the law library to include budget management, purchasing, creating and maintaining relationships with vendors and ensuring practices conform to University regulations.Provides direct support to the Sr Associate Deans for Information Services on a wide range of projects and assignments, including coordinating receptions and other special meetings and seminars.Oversees all human resource functions and matters pertaining for all employees at the law library in conjunction with Law School and University Human Resources.Compounded responsibility of the day-to-day operations and administration of the library offices, including the development of departmental policies and budget management.This encompasses 5 library departments in Newark and 4 in Camden.Position Status

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field and minimum of three years experience in an executive level administrative position, preferably with supervisory responsibilities, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and professionalism.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Requires excellent communication skills, advanced computer literacy, and a high degree of integrity and confidentiality.Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with Excel spreadsheets, Oracle, Marketplace and PeopleSoft is preferred.Equipment Utilized
