The
CA. Department of Social Services' Executive Division is recruiting for an SSM II (Specialist) - Statewide Policy/Project Manager position in Sacramento County.Job Description and DutiesThe Department of Social Services is hiring for one Staff Services Manager II (Specialist) position to lead the strategic planning, coordination, and implementation of mission-critical special projects. This position serves as a Project Manager to the Directorate and works with a high degree of independence to lead multidisciplinary teams across various Divisional units and programs. This may include the implementation of significant changes to federal law, policies related to emergency response, department-wide projects related to equity, and other special projects as assigned. The position offers opportunities to advance important decisions that affect at least 8 million Californians. The Department of Social Services tackles innovative public policy projects that help the state address the social issues that plague our communities. Our teams do their daily work through a creative thought process, and in a work environment where collaborative, proactive problem solving is strongly encouraged.

Working ConditionsThis position will be headquartered at 744 P Street in downtown Sacramento. Telework is available, but this position also requires some level of in-person work and engagement depending on the business needs.
This work location is very convenient! The CDSS is located two blocks from the light rail and public transportation: within walking distance to the State Capitol, parks, restaurants, farmer’s markets, and the Golden 1 Arena. Our building has easy access to I-5, Highway 50, and Highway 80.
This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under California Government Code Section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Specific telework arrangements may be discussed in more detail with the respective hiring manager. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the Department of Social Services policies. Headquarters location will be designated based on the selected candidate's primary residence location, and/or the closest CDSS location.
Salary: $7,643.00 - $9,496.00 per Month
