Job Details

Responsibilities:

  1. Direct, supervise, and coordinate the activities of the payroll department to ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees across multiple states.
  2. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  3. Coordinate efforts between payroll, human resources, budgeting, and other departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data.
  4. Establish and implement policies on matters such as payroll advancements to employees and payroll deductions.
  5. Consult with senior management on strategic planning related to payroll and other financial activities.
  6. Develop systems to process payroll account transactions (e.g., salaries, benefits, garnishments, deductions, taxes, and third party payments).
  7. Collaborate with Human Resources (HR) and accounting teams to align and reconcile payroll data.
  8. Conduct audits and validations of payroll information and resolve any discrepancies found.
  9. Prepare and submit reports on payroll activities to the upper management.
  10. Stay abreast of the latest developments in federal, state, and local laws that impact payroll processing and ensure that the company is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  2. A minimum of 2+ years of experience in a supervisory role within a multi-state payroll environment is required.
  3. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is preferred.
  4. Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes. with 10+ years of Payroll experience.
  5. Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations.
  6. Proficient with payroll software (ADP Vantage) or similar ADP experience
  7. Strong mathematical and analytical skills to deal with complex payroll calculations.
  8. Excellent leadership and decision-making abilities.
  9. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with various departments and levels of staff.
  10. Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and ability to multitask.
  11. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  12. Ability to work under pressure while meeting tight deadlines.
  13. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
