Job Description
Job Title: Strength and Conditioning Trainer / PE Teacher
Location: de Toledo High School
Job Type: Full-Time
Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Strength and Conditioning Trainer who will also serve as a Physical Education (PE) Teacher. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience working in a high school or college program, with a strong background in strength training and conditioning, as well as the ability to teach PE classes effectively. This position requires an individual who is committed to promoting physical fitness, improving student-athletes' performance, and fostering an inclusive, engaging, and healthy environment for all students. PE classes will be conducted during the school day. Strength and Conditioning will be conducted both during the school day and after school.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strength and Conditioning Training:
- Design, implement, and monitor individualized and group strength and conditioning programs for student-athletes during season and in the off season.
- Conduct fitness assessments, assess athletes during competitions, and provide feedback on performance to track progress and ensure program effectiveness.
- Educate students on proper techniques for strength training, injury prevention, and the benefits of physical fitness.
- Collaborate with coaches, athletic trainers, athletes, and staff to develop training schedules that align with athletic goals and academic priorities.
- Provide guidance to athletes in areas such as speed, agility, strength, power, and endurance.
- Demonstrating proper exercise techniques and form to minimize injury risk and optimize results.
- Track athlete progress through performance testing and adjusting training plans as needed.
- Keeping athletes engaged and motivated throughout the training process.
- Working closely with other coaches to ensure training aligns with overall team goals.
- Physical Education Instruction:
- Teach engaging, diverse, and developmentally appropriate PE classes for various grade levels.
- Incorporate strength and conditioning principles into PE lessons, focusing on fitness, teamwork, and overall wellness.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes physical activity and health for students of all abilities.
- Assess student progress in fitness, motor skills, and overall physical education goals.
- Encourage students to develop lifelong healthy habits through PE classes and fitness education.
- Develop and implement curriculum for PE classes that align with the goals and mission statement of the department.
- Collaboration and Support:
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, coaches, and school administration to support and enhance the school's overall wellness program.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and fitness-related extracurricular activities.
- Assist in the organization of school-wide fitness events and wellness challenges to promote a culture of health.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Provide recommendations for student-athletes on injury prevention, rehabilitation exercises, and optimal performance strategies.
- Assist with athletic events or competitions, when necessary.
- Serve as a role model for physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle for both students and staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field.
- Certification in Strength and Conditioning (e.g., NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or equivalent).
- At least two years of experience working in a high school or college strength and conditioning program or teaching physical education.
- In-depth knowledge of strength training techniques, injury prevention, fitness assessments, and overall conditioning.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to connect with students, coaches, school staff, and parents.
- A passion for physical fitness, coaching, and inspiring students to lead healthy, active lives.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to demonstrate and lead strength training exercises and physical education activities.
- Ability to participate in physical fitness activities, lifting equipment as necessary, and moving throughout various school facilities.
Compensation:
- Salary Range: $65,000-$70,000 with great benefits including 100% employer paid medical and dental, plus 50% for 1 dependent; vision; an annual and generous 403(b) match; all Federal holidays plus up to 12 Jewish Holy Days paid per year.
