POSITION SUMMARY:
The Custodian at Endicott College plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe campus environment. This position involves a wide range of cleaning and maintenance tasks across campus facilities, including academic buildings, offices, kitchens, and common areas. A successful Custodian will demonstrate strong attention to detail, pride in their work, and a commitment to keeping the campus welcoming and functional for students, staff, and visitors.
RESPONSIBILITIES IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE TO JOB:
- Clean and sanitize college buildings, including offices, classrooms, kitchens, and restrooms, to maintain a safe and pleasant environment.
- Handle floor care, including sweeping, mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, and vacuuming carpets, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
- Replenish paper products and toilet supplies as needed and replace accessible light bulbs.
- Dust and clean various surfaces, such as walls, woodwork, and furniture.
- Wash and clean walls, baseboards, doors, and other surfaces to maintain the aesthetic and hygienic standards of the college.
- Collect and dispose of trash and recycling in designated areas, keeping the campus clean and tidy.
- Clean windows and glass surfaces inside and in accessible exterior areas.
- Patrol the exterior of buildings, picking up trash and debris to maintain a neat and professional campus appearance.
- Assist with snow removal and/or shoveling walkways during winter months to promote safe access.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental goals and maintain cleanliness across campus.
- At least one year of experience in custodial or institutional cleaning, preferably within a college or similar environment.
- Knowledge of cleaning materials, equipment, and techniques, with an understanding of proper safety protocols and usage.
- Experience in floor care maintenance, including waxing, buffing, and carpet care.
- Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and perform tasks that require bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
- Ability to work independently, follow schedules, and manage time effectively.
- Dependable, with a strong work ethic and willingness to work overtime when needed.
- Reliable transportation for commuting to campus.
- A valid Massachusetts driver's license and proof of vehicle registration.
