Overview
The Wind/Solar Engineer will play a key role in the technical evaluation, design optimization, and feasibility assessment of our wind and solar projects from early-stage development through construction and operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in both wind and solar technologies , a strong foundation in engineering principles , and familiarity with permitting requirements and project execution . Experience with construction and operations is a plus.
Your responsibilities
Development Support:
- Conduct technical evaluations of potential wind and solar project sites, including resource assessment, site constraints, and feasibility studies .
- Work closely with development, interconnection, and permitting teams to optimize project viability and performance.
- Support the design and layout of wind and solar projects, including turbine siting, panel orientation, and electrical system design .
- Assist in RFP preparation, EPC contracts, and equipment procurement .
Engineering & Design:
- Perform technical due diligence for project acquisitions, including site visits, technology assessment, and operational analysis .
- Support the selection and evaluation of turbines, inverters, and balance-of-system components .
- Work with consultants and third-party engineers to optimize designs and ensure compliance with industry standards (IEC, IEEE, UL, etc.).
- Assist in grid interconnection studies and coordinate with utilities and ISOs for seamless integration.
Construction & Operations Support (Preferred Experience):
- Provide engineering support during the construction phase , including reviewing technical submittals, site inspections, and troubleshooting .
- Assist in performance monitoring and optimization of operating assets, including root cause analysis of underperformance.
- Support the development of O&M strategies, warranties, and long-term asset management plans .
Process & Innovation:
- Contribute to best practices and standard operating procedures for technical evaluations and project execution.
- Research emerging technology trends in wind, solar, and energy storage to enhance project competitiveness.
- Identify and mitigate project risks in collaboration with internal teams.
Qualifications & Experience
✅ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
✅ 3-7 years of experience in wind and solar engineering, with a focus on project development .
✅ Strong knowledge of wind resource assessment, solar PV modeling, and energy yield analysis tools (e.g., WindPRO, OpenWind, PVSyst, Helioscope).
✅ Experience with GIS tools, CAD software, and power system modeling (ETAP, PowerWorld, or similar) is a plus.
✅ Familiarity with EPC contracts, procurement processes, and construction best practices .
✅ Understanding of grid interconnection, permitting requirements, and technical regulations in the renewable energy sector.
✅ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills , with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
✅ Excellent communication and teamwork skills .
✅ Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
✔️ Experience in wind and solar construction & operations (performance monitoring, troubleshooting, asset management).
✔️ Knowledge of energy storage and hybrid project design .
✔️ Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT certification is a plus.
✔️ Experience working with developers, utilities, and EPC contractors in the renewable energy sector.
