The Department of Chemistry is seeking candidates for temporary adjunct positions starting for the 2024-25 academic year. Candidates should possess a master’s degree or higher in Chemistry or a closely related field. Candidates should be able to successfully teach undergraduate level Analytical and/or General Chemistry lecture and lab courses in an in-person mode.Position Information

Masters degree or higher in Chemistry, Physics or a related field.One year or more of successful teaching experience.Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of college students.Successfully foster and support an inclusive educational environment.Normal Work Schedule

8:00 AM – 6:00 PMDepartment Required Skills

The ability to teach three (3) lecture hours per week in person and (1) lab hour.Must be able to use and work from a course syllabus and maintain grades and record keeping using a Learning Management System (Canvas). Should be proficient in technologies and teaching with various tools such as projectors, laser pointers, lab equipment, and presentation software.Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

Three years or more of successful teaching analytical and/or general chemistry courses at the college level.Effective classroom management, correspondence with students, faculty, staff and administration.A dedication to providing a positive high-quality learning environment is essential.Experience using Banner and Canvas systems.Required License or Certification

Valid US Driver's License: YesPrimary Responsibilities and Duties

The instructional assignment may include, but is not limited to, teaching courses in all levels of Chemistry offered at the college in:Quantitative AnalysisThe department uses chemical instrumentation and computers in teaching environments. Departmental Instrumentation may include GC, FTIR, GC-MS, HPLC and AA. Laptop computers and digital data acquisition systems are also available for laboratory instructional use.The Adjunct Faculty will follow a syllabus and will prepare assignments, tests and quizzes as needed. Will also keep records of student’s grades, attendance and submit a final grade.Position Type
