Job Summary
As an Electrician SK2.1 for the Operations and Maintenance dept. at Purdue, you will:Perform electrical construction & maintenance on all University secondary electrical systems, lighting systems, control circuits, ETS phones, & transformers.Respond to service calls, trouble-shooting & repairs.Perform preventive maintenance as dictated by schedules.Perform scheduled maintenance on Generators, PLC's, Blvd Lights, Beacon/Windsock, H/C doors.Renovate & modifies existing electrical systems.Refer to blue prints, work with engineering department and serve as interim to crew chief during the Crew Chiefs absence.Overtime will be required in this position.Required to carry a pager.Education & Experience:
HS diploma/GED3 years of experience in electrical construction, electrical maintenance, electrical repair, or electrical trouble-shooting.Continue education in the electrical field as directed.Skills Needed:
Required:
Perform mathematical calculations.Possess good oral and written communication.Work in adverse conditions such as electrical hazards, extreme cold and heat, confined spaces and working from heights.Ability to lift and carry 50-80lbs frequently, and up to 100lbs or more occasionally.Skills and experience working with secondary electrical systems, lighting systems, and conduit.Skills and experience working with transformers.Ability to read blue prints and schematics.Preferred:
Basic computer skills including familiarity with word processors, spreadsheets, and SAP.Experience with control circuits, generators and PLC's.Career Stream:
